Floodwater is not clean water
When rivers, storm drains or heavy rain push water into a building, that water has usually picked up soil, sewage, fuel, fertilizer and debris along the way. The industry classifies it as black water, the most contaminated category. Porous materials it touches, such as carpet, pad, drywall and insulation, generally cannot be cleaned well enough to be safe and have to be removed.
For that reason, flood cleanup in Kelly Ridge, CA begins with safety. Our technicians wear protective equipment, assess electrical and structural hazards, and set up the work area so contaminated materials can be removed without dragging mud and water through unaffected parts of the building.
Clearing out the damage
We pump and extract remaining water, then remove mud and silt by shovel, squeegee and wet vacuum. Flooring, lower sections of drywall and insulation below the flood line are cut out and bagged. Contents are sorted with you: items that can be cleaned, items that need specialized treatment and items that must be discarded, all photographed and listed.
Once materials are out, hard surfaces including framing, concrete and remaining wall sections are cleaned and treated with antimicrobial products. This step matters, because leftover silt and residue can feed mold growth and cause odors long after the water is gone.
Drying and preparing for repair
After cleaning, we set up drying equipment and track moisture in framing, subfloors and concrete. Flood-affected structures can take longer to dry than a typical leak because water has soaked deeply into materials over hours or days.
When readings confirm the structure is dry, the building is ready for flood damage repair. We can move directly into that phase or provide documentation to your contractor. Throughout, you receive photos and records to support flood insurance and assistance claims.
